How Do I Install/Replace Canyon Headset Bearings?
The first step is to grease the inside of the headtube where the bearing is seated. Start by replacing the lower bearing, ensuring it is properly positioned into the frame. Next, insert the fork into the headtube of the bike. After that, grease and replace the top bearing, again making sure it is correctly positioned into the frame. Then, replace the compression rings and seals, followed by the stem. Finally, replace the top cap, making sure it is properly tightened to take up any slack, but be cautious not to overtighten it as this can damage the bearings.
How Do I Remove my Canyon Headset?
There are usually two internal bearings located in the bike’s head tube, one at the bottom and one at the top. To remove the bearings, start by unscrewing the pinch bolts, then remove the compression rings and dust seals. Remember the order in which you removed them to make reassembly easier; a helpful tip is to thread them onto a piece of string or tie. At this point, you can remove the bike’s fork. The Canyon headset bearings can now be taken out from the frame. This is an ideal time to use a bit of degreaser to thoroughly clean the inside of the frame. Once cleaned, you are ready to replace the integrated bearings.
